Psalm 146:5-10 – Time to Praise

Read Psalm 146:5-10

Our theme of joy is fueled greatly by this wonderful psalm of praise. For each petition, I found myself exclaiming, “Yes!” God does all of those things. He actively interacts with his people, and some things never change. James 1:17 has a beautiful picture of our loving, giving God. “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”

The gift of His Son, Jesus, is the perfect gift we celebrate this time of year. That’s why we wrap presents and give them to our loved ones. A delivery arrived just today, and I was anxious to pull out gifts and set them aside for next week. It’s sad to know many people don’t know about the gift of a Savior we celebrate. Mark 12:35-13:2 – Forever With God

Read Mark 12:35-13:2

Jesus covers a lot of ground here with his discussions about the Messiah, the widow’s offering, and a glimpse into the future. Jesus continues to share truth bombs to speak to his followers. Whether or not these all happened on the same afternoon or not doesn’t matter. The Gospel of Mark is a great collection of the life and teachings of Jesus.

When we hear Jesus talk about the Messiah (himself), our viewpoint is a lot different than that of his first audience. For the disciples and early followers, waiting for the Messiah to come was on the forefront of everyone’s minds. For centuries, since the prophets first foretold this Savior and promised deliverer, the people had been waiting and watching. Continue reading “Mark 12:35-13:2 – Forever With God”
