We are branches. How glorious that we have been grafted in as part of God’s family. It’s an honor we often take for granted I think. We are now able to receive the nourishment God intended for Abraham’s descendants. It’s still waiting for them, but it is available to us who are connected now.
One thing is certain, we shouldn’t take this gift for granted. We should not flaunt it in an unhealthy way. If we live our lives in reverence to God, trusting him, and striving to become more like Jesus, people will notice. We don’t need to “brag” about our inheritance. That’s not being attractive. Instead, we live our faith.
What does that look like for you? How do you live your faith?
Are we grafted forever? Paul says, “But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off.” That’s a pretty clear incentive to be sure. To remain in Christ and experience his unconditional love, we stay connected by believing, trusting in him no matter what.
There are times in our life where our faith is going to be tested. There is too much evil in the world for any of us to be immune, despite our best efforts. We can stay holy and connected to God by being steadfast in our faith. That can be hard when messages of the world challenge us. How do we stay connected amidst the storms of life?
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in his wonderful face. For the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and grace.” Do you recognize those song lyrics? I think it’s the perfect answer to how we stay connected.
God is standing by ready to graft those who have strayed when they choose to return to him by believing and trusting. How marvelous it is when those who were the original chosen ones return and experience the life God promised them.

Let’s pray. Father God, help me to stand strong with you by my side. Help me fend off the attacks of evil and disillusionment. May your light burn brightly inside me so others can see your good work and give you the glory. Watch over my steps and keep my feet firmly rooted in your truth. Bring those people into my path that are ready to hear from you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
