As we embark on our “Discovering the Bible Challenge,” we’ll focus first on Our Majestic and Gracious God. Each reading has been carefully selected for our Bible adventure together. I probably didn’t need to even tell you what the “theme” of the week is. What does our psalm speak to your heart about God’s character?
For me, I am comforted in knowing I was not created and then left to fend on my own. We all know this world to be a dark, cruel place underneath all the beauty and glorious display of God’s hand. There is peace knowing God created me to be in relationship with him. His instruction is available for all his children.
When is the last time you have been “wow’d” by God? Maybe it was a beautiful sunset or a miraculous healing. Maybe it was watching your child take their first step! I love how these verses really get us thinking about God’s involvement in our world. “When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?”
One of the biggest regrets I have in my life is that I wasted too many years just going through the motions. There was always one more thing on my to-do list or one more thing to put on my plate. I was trying to be “super-mom” after all! How many beautiful sunsets did I not cherish, how many lost opportunities were there to share my faith with someone ready to hear a message from God?
It’s not too late for me or for you. We have been given breath for one more day. How we choose to use that day is up to us. It seriously is! Whether we are working a full-time job or not, we still have down time. It may just be stealing away to take an extended potty break so you can breathe (I’ve done that before!)
How are you spending your time? Are you cherishing your creator for all he has done for you? Are you seeking his will for your life? Have you talked with him yet today? I’m not writing this to make you feel guilty. Life can be a rollercoaster, I get it. What I’m hoping is that you’re taking an honest look at your relationship with God and all the other responsibilities in your life.
This psalm convicts me to not only see the majesty of God, but to show gratitude for his grace. He knows we’re not perfect, yet he trusts us to care for his creation. “You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority.” While that may sound daunting, he’s given us his grace to handle his affairs. He trusts us; we should trust him even more!
“O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!” Help me be one of the ones shouting your praises! I long for the day when people will stop trying to shut God out but welcome him. Take some time to rest in the awe you have for God and show your gratitude for the blessings that surround you.
Let’s pray. Father God, you are an amazing provider of all that is good. Thank you for creating me and trusting me with your provisions. May my heart be overflowing with gratitude. Forgive me for all the time I waste each day that I could be using to bring you glory. Show me how I can shine my light brighter for you so that others can see how majestically perfect you are! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Dana blessed by today’s post. Thank you
