Acts 21:1-14 – The Lord’s Will Be Done

Read Acts 21:1-14

I just love how God works in and around us. Before I retired and had more time on my hands, I missed seeing God at work. He was working, but I just wasn’t seeing. I wasn’t looking. That’s really sad because I know a lot of my friends are in that same place. Going through the motions but not really seeing God’s hand at work. Not feeling his presence spark inside them.

We see Paul today totally focused and ready for anything. He knew before he was told that he was about to suffer. He was fearless for Jesus. He was probably more fearful of not obeying his call or mission. Do we fear disobedience enough? Are we being obedient to what God wants for each of us?

Paul was ready for anything, or so he said. I’m sure the inner turmoil was still there. He was human, of course. Even Jesus had a turmoil of emotions churning inside him during those final days and hours of his life on earth as a man. We can understand having a feeling of fear, but fear without faith must be horrendous.

I was reminded today who is in control. After letting myself feel a little lost and forlorn, God tapped me on the shoulder. He sent encouragement my way and assured me everything was the way it’s supposed to be. Patience. Confidence. Trust. All areas of my life that are growing by leaps and bounds right now. How is God stretching you to prepare you for your mission? Do you know what his mission for you is?

Take some time today to reflect on what God’s will is for your life. It may surprise you what he has in store for you. Don’t let your own feelings of inadequacy limit his dream for you. I am preaching to myself here, guys, but if you are feeling it, too, that’s awesome.

Listen to one of my favorite songs, titled “Thy Will.”

Don’t just rush through your quiet time today.  Listen for God.

Let’s pray. Father, I thank you for revealing yourself to me today in a very cool way. You are so worthy of my praise. I am in a place of such honor that I can lead worship again to help your people enter your presence. Thank you for bringing me back to my purpose. Again, I stand in awe of Paul and how you worked through him. I aspire to his level of devotion and trust. Thank you for how you are growing me to be closer to you. May I be obedient to your will for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
