Wisdom is intended for all of us. It is not hidden and available only to a select few. We are all meant to have understanding. Yet many ignore the gift provided to us. I picture a town crier on the streets. After a while, you stop hearing the message. You stop listening. It’s just noise that blends in with the rest.
What about wisdom? How much more can we be stimulated? Our brains are full of voices, of messages we’ve read, of situations we’ve witnessed or lived through. How do we sort it all out? Do we want to? Wouldn’t it be easier to just bury our heads in the sand, try not to worry, and trust that everything is going to work out okay?
God wants for us to live and experience the world he created for us. But he also wants us to be wise about how we live. Wisdom’s advice is wholesome, easy to understand, and valuable. Have you ever thought about wisdom being valuable, nothing we can desire can compare.
When we have wisdom, we are able to see things happening around us with a new understanding. How valuable having knowledge and discernment when it comes to making important life decisions. Our lives will continue to play out whether we are wise or not. Knowing that wisdom is valuable should give us all the more desire to want to seek it out.
If we seek wisdom, we shall find it. If there was ever a reason to search for wisdom, she (wisdom) gives us two here. “I have riches and honor, as well as enduring wealth and justice.” To seek riches alone doesn’t always promise happiness or contentment. When we find and embrace wisdom, we are wealthy at last.
Do you love wisdom? Are you seeking the truth?
Let’s pray … Lord, I do seek your truth and pray that you will make me wise. There are so many things happening in the world right now that make it a scary place. I feel refuge when I spend time with you. I feel safe and loved and sure of my destiny with you in eternity. Help me to reach those who don’t have that same peaceful assurance. Use me to give them hope and encourage them to seek your wisdom. It’s too valuable to leave behind. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
