This is such a great Bible text talking about itself. What a great way to focus on God’s Word, seeing it as the great resource it is for our lives! Who can you thank for introducing you to the Bible? Hopefully, they are a trusted friend who shares your desire to know God more.
The teachers referred to here are those Christian guides who have come alongside us during our lives, pointing toward the truth. For me, I remember many Sunday School teachers who shared Bible stories with the class. I can’t imagine not having them in my life, but I recognize that other people have had entirely different upbringings. I thank God for you, that we are now on the same path toward God.
Our true education for life comes from the pages of Scripture, which was “inspired by God.” What better source than trusting the Creator to provide useful words to teach us and help us realize what we’re doing wrong. We may have been looking for happiness, love, peace, etc. in the wrong place our whole lives. That stops today as you hold the keys to wisdom from the LORD in your hands.
There are plenty of people who read the Bible and still don’t learn. It’s like their minds are locked and their hearts frozen. They don’t yet trust God enough to trust his Word is true. Building trust takes time, years in some cases. Trust is never achieved as a result of avoidance.
We need to delve into God’s Word and ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit when needed. Don’t you want to understand the mission God has designed for you? The pages of Scripture will ignite a passion in you that you didn’t know you had. Perhaps it’s serving the poor, the imprisoned, or the homebound. Along with that passion comes provision.
Speaking of the Bible, “God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” Those passions we’re given are from God, and our preparation is found in God’s Word. It’s passages like this in the Bible that give us hope in a God we can trust. God is involved in our lives, in our success. He equips us to serve Him; we do not need to doubt that.
Are you feeling equipped for service? Are you ready to trust the book inspired by God to lead you on your way? There are so many lessons and nuggets of wisdom to encounter.
Let’s pray. Hey God, thank you so much for inspiring all those normal people to write such powerful words for you. They speak to my heart all these years later. Continue to use me to spread your word to people who may not know you or to those who are seeking more of you, like me. Open my eyes to see more clearly your desires for my life. Equip me for service. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
