Acts 9:1-31 – Transformed!

Read Acts 9:1-31

This is one of the greatest stories of transformation in the Bible. We’re given hope that God can use us, too, no matter what we have done in the past. Here we meet Saul. He was mentioned only briefly in chapters 7 and 8, but here we see what God had intended for him.

We’re given a glimpse into the person Saul was before encountering Jesus, and he was “eager to kill the Lord’s followers,” known as “the Way.” Just the sight of Saul would have brought fear to the believers. Acts 8:26-40 – Divine Appointments

Read Acts 8:26-40

You never know when God is going to have a divine appointment for you to share your faith. That’s why it’s so important to keep our eyes and ears open. Be watching for openings and don’t shy away from action. In Philip’s case, he even got an angelic message of instruction about his next audience. His obedience was clear as he traveled quite some distance to get to his “target.”

In those days, many traveled on foot, but Philip’s divine appointment was with someone in a carriage. That would signify wealth or importance. Jeremiah 1:1-10 – Jeremiah’s Call

Read Jeremiah 1:1-10

Jeremiah had an excuse for why he didn’t think he could speak for God. He thought he was too young. God didn’t think so. We’ve probably used excuses like Jeremiah to plea with God when we are being called to do something uncomfortable. Can you recall a time when you felt unprepared and wondered how God was going to use you?

As we walk through the book of Jeremiah together, it will be helpful to keep in mind that overall, Jeremiah’s message is one of hope set against the backdrop of political disaster and immense human suffering. This should be helpful for us today in finding hope in a world that seems a little out of control.
