This may be my favorite reading in Romans so far. There is so much to convict us in this reading. If someone reads this and doesn’t want to follow Christ, there must be something wrong with them. If nothing else, the perks are great!
Did you have a favorite verse that spoke to you?
I liked verse 14, “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” And we call him, “Abba, Father” which is like calling God – Daddy. Listen to this beautiful song that sums it up from Planetshakers, Abba Father LISTEN HERE.
We are God’s children. What good parent wouldn’t provide the best for their children? We have been freed from condemnation. We have been given a Spirit to live inside us and direct our path. We have been an inheritance to share with Christ in the glory of God. I don’t know about you, but I am gushing with gratefulness.
So what do we do about all the people who have not accepted Christ as their Savior? They are wallowing in their sinfulness, condemned to die with no hope of salvation. Doesn’t your heart just break for them? They are in the tight grip of the evil one who is taking advantage of their weakness. It’s so tragic. They don’t belong to Christ at all.
We all know those people. They are hostile to God as Paul explains. We need to be careful because we can so easily fall back into that trap as well and let our sinful nature take over. We need to allow the Spirit inside us to direct our paths and keep our hearts and minds thinking of good things and not the sinful desires that want to be in control.
It’s a constant battle. But you know, we have the advocate on our side. We have the Spirit we can call on. We don’t have to fight the battle alone. In fact, if we try, we won’t win. So if you are going through something now, a trial or struggle, or even a valley of sadness, remember that Christ is living inside you. Focus on that. Let the peace that surpasses understanding help you through.
Let’s pray. Abba Father, I rest at your feet. I love feeling you close. I feel so undeserving of all your love and mercy. My heart is overflowing with gratefulness. May my life reflect you in all I say and I do. Continue to guide me. Use me to bring light to the world so that others will see you and choose you to be their Savior, too. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
