1 Peter 3:1-6 – For Wives Especially

Read 1 Peter 3:1-16

This passage is similar to one we read in Ephesians 5 (I’ll have to grab link or you can search for that passage if you want to see how I dealt with the instructions to wives from that perspective.) In Ephesians, Paul was speaking, this is Peter. Peter seems a little more positive for women, in general. It seems as if his instructions could apply to all women. Lest, married women would look dumpy and frumpy, while unmarried women would look dressed and polished, lipstick and all. For wives then, we have an “extra” duty from other women.

This spoke to me having been a battered wife for fifteen years. You begin to wonder if something is wrong with you. If I had read this verse during that time, I think I would have found a lot of comfort and strength. I was at least trying my best to be pure, but it wasn’t working. There was much more emphasis on looking nice with extra jewelry, makeup, etc. That isn’t the right focus! I wish I could have lived without fear. But that was a lifetime ago.

God walked me through that time whether I believed he was there or not. I am in such a better place now prepared to help others in their time of need. Mostly just as a prayer warrior, but a fierce one at that!

Do you have any prayer requests? Did you notice there is a page on this blog you can navigate to and leave me a confidential prayer request?  Check it out sometime.

God is continually opening up new ministries right before my eyes. Sometimes I feel like I can’t do it, but that is when I know I must. If God is in it with me, it’s what I’m supposed to do and he’ll make it happen. Gideon didn’t have a big army, but he won his battle. God uses the weak to show his strength. I love it when he uses me whether I’m weak or strong!

How is God using you right now? He is you know. You might not know in what way, and that’s okay. You are precious to God. We who have a gentle and quiet spirit, we please God. We don’t question his authority, we trust God for who he is. Creator. Omnipotent. Omnipresent. Father. Spirit. Son.

Let’s pray. Lord, thank you for all you are and all you make of me. I pray that you will use me to make this world a better place. Bring those people to me that need to hear from you. Let my voice be yours to speak to their hearts. May I quiet my own mind so that I can hear the plans you want me to hear. I look forward to a future that is full and complete because we have gotten there together. In  Jesus precious name. Amen.
